Arrival and Departure

Children can arrive in the classroom at 7:45a.m.and the class will be dismissed at 11:00a.m. We will walk the children out and wait outside the classroom for the parents to pick them up. If your child is to ride with someone other than their regular ride any day, you must inform the teachers.

Assertive Discipline

A child who chooses to misbehave after being given a warning is asked to sit calmly and quietly in the quiet chair until he or she is ready to rejoin the group in a more relaxed and positive state of mind. In this way we help the child realize the consequences of his or her behavior in a positive way. Children respond wonderfully to praise and positive directions – we catch the children doing good things rather than waiting for trouble to start. Our program gives positive reinforcements. Frequent changes in activity and rewarding children for positive actions are the form of discipline used in the program. Consistent inappropriate behavior will be discussed with parents if necessary.

In conjunction with ACES Primary card system we have a Stop Light system.
            Green – Good day
Yellow – I’m not being the best I can be
Red – Take a time out and think about it

Absences

Please notify the school if your child will be absent. A child should remain at home if he or she is not feeling well, has a fever of 99 degrees or more, has diarrhea, or has vomited within the last 24 hours. Do not send a child to school with poison ivy or chicken pox. Parents will be called to pick up their child from school if the teachers notice any of the above symptoms. This is for your child’s well being, as well as to avoid spreading germs to the other children or teachers. There will be periodic checks for head lice. A child with head lice will not be permitted to attend school and must have a written statement from the Health Department Nurses to be allowed to return. It is our policy that the preschool staff dispenses no medication. To report absences, please call 367-3503.

Potty Training

Your child must be ‘potty trained’, know how to use the toilet properly.

Weather Conditions
